Lace Front Wigs and the Braiding Business
I have been operating a braiding salon for over eight years, but recently I have really trying to find out what is the cause (s) for the significant drop off in the braiding business. I have concluded that a significant cause for the downturn in the braiding business is because of the economic downturn. With the current economic downturn, women and men are look for an alternative cost of braiding their hair, and in some cases at the detriment of their hair health.
Yes there are discussions out there about the effects of hair braiding and natural hair weaving on the health of ones natural hair, but braids and natural weaves have proven to be good for ones hair provided that they are not done too tight or kept in for too long. I digress, but I have found in my consultation with beauty suppliers and others in the business of braiding is that more people are using Lace Front Wigs and gluing weaves into their own hair as an alternative to the cost of getting braids done. Some time later, they do return to hair braiding, after there is significant damage to their hair line and broken hair follicles that are caused by Lace Front Wigs and self glued weaves. Hair line damage is usually permanent since the hair around the edges of ones hair line is the hardest place to regrow.
Beyonce, Naomi Campbell, Tyra Banks and several other African American super stars have help to popularize the lace front wig, and although they can all afford the best stylist, they cannot prevent the damages, much less YOU.

Lace Wigs VS Braiding
Braiding salons, have you found that because of the economic climate that more women are using Lace Wigs instead of braiding or weaving their hair and have you found that a few months later, those using lace wigs are loosing the hair edges?
